"Mt. Agassiz - Save Our Mountains"

Retired chairlift chairs from Mt. Agassiz now available for skiing enthusiasts and collectors alike from Agassiz Mountain Development Group.  This notion came about from enquiries during the recent Walk-About this summer at the resort.

For those interested in having a unique piece of skiing nostalgia to adorn their
home, cabin or garden, AMDG is offering these somewhat antique double chairlift
chairs for sale. Price is $100 per chair. They are constructed of galvanized metal. Guests can pickup their chairs at our storage area near McCreary or have them brought into Winnipeg or Brandon. All Lift chairs can fit in a standard truck bed.

There are a total of 32 chairs; these were extra chairs unused since the chairlift was installed in 1978 and pulled from the “boneyards” last fall as part of a tender to begin cleaning up scrap at the ski area. This is the first chairlift installed in Manitoba and was not a retrofit from another ski area. It was built specifically for the 1979 Brandon Canada Winter Games.

These old double chairlift chairs are all truly neat conversation pieces of skiing history in Manitoba. Double chairlift chairs are quickly disappearing. Each lift chair is being sold as is or can be fabricated into a bench swing or solid bench for $75. extra.

Pictured (click here) is a refinished Mueller chair that was painted red and hung in a backyard as a garden bench or swing.
